Saad Amjad, Barrister & Solicitor
A Mississauga practice for landlords at the Landlord and Tenant Board and on appeals to the Divisional Court.
“Every file deserves an honest assessment up front: what is routine, what will be contested, and what — if anything — belongs at the Divisional Court.”
Background
Saad Amjad is an Ontario lawyer and the founder of Amjad Law, a Mississauga practice he opened in 2026. He was licensed by the Law Society of Ontario in 2022, after articling with a Toronto criminal defence firm.
Before founding Amjad Law, he spent more than three years as an associate lawyer at a criminal law firm, acting as defence counsel in more than 300 criminal cases and as first-chair counsel in close to 50 trials in the Ontario Court of Justice and the Superior Court of Justice. That work covered the full course of a litigated file: disclosure and evidence review, case assessment, pre-trial negotiation, Charter applications, written advocacy, witness examination, trial strategy and sentencing.
Past results do not guarantee the outcome of any future matter; every case depends on its own facts.

Practice today
Amjad Law represents landlords at Landlord and Tenant Board hearings and, where appropriate, on appeals to the Divisional Court under section 210 of the Residential Tenancies Act. The courtroom skills built in criminal practice — testing evidence, examining witnesses and preparing a clean record — carry directly into contested Board hearings and appeals. Criminal defence remains a separate practice area.
Knowing which appeals belong at the Divisional Court
Not every adverse Board order is worth appealing — and not every appeal that looks strong on paper has a viable question of law behind it. The firm will tell a client honestly whether a file has a real appellate path, a better chance on a Review Request, or no realistic prospect at all. That triage is the single most important service the firm offers on the appellate side: advising clients against spending money on appeals that will not succeed, and pursuing the ones that will.
What we do
- LTB hearings — L1 arrears, L2 terminations, L5 AGIs, maintenance, and contested files of every size.
- Divisional Court appeals from LTB decisions on questions of law.
- Motions to set aside ex parte orders and Review Requests before the Board.
- Drafting and service of N4, N5, N12, N13 and related notices.
- Criminal defence — a separate, selective practice area.
Approach
Clients are kept informed in plain language. Costs, timelines, and realistic outcomes are discussed up front. Where a matter can be resolved short of a contested hearing, that option is explored. Where it cannot, the file is prepared for hearing — and for any appellate review that may follow.
